Panama in June 1995 passed Law 25 “Private Interest Foundations”, thus opening a new window into the globalized world with many opportunities and a truly exclusive property protection. The Private Interest Foundation is an excellent tool for international asset protection and dividing them among the heirs of its founder.
The Private Interest Foundations are ideal for use as a long-term deposit or investment accounts, thanks to the opportunity to choose the beneficiaries and to our legislation, which according to the Civil Law does not operate with forced heirs instrument.
A foundation is not set up to conduct business, it is built to manage and protect their own property.
Furthermore, it is common practice to have a foundation that owns a company, profits of the company are regularly transferred to the foundation; however, if the company incurs bankruptcy, the foundation does not affect in any way.
